About Us
The BOTTLE WORKS Ethnic Arts Center is located in an historically designated neighborhood of Johnstown PA, known as Cambria City. The mission of the BOTTLE WORKS is to preserve and celebrate the cultural diversity of the peoples of this region through their arts - such as music, dance, costuming, foodways and literary traditions.

The BOTTLE WORKS was organized in 1992 as a response to the intense interest in ethnicity evidenced by the Centennial Celebration in 1989 which saluted the spirit of the people of Johnstown after the flood and the National folk Festivals, held in Johnstown 1990-1992.
A former industrial building, the Tulip Bottling Company was chosen as the home for the organization. After extensive repair, renovation and restoration, the building was dedicated in 1996 as the Jacob and Renee Goldhaber Ethnic Arts Center. The permanent collection at the Center includes every bottle used in the production of Tulip soda pop, as well as the history of the founders. The Center includes a Gallery, Black Box Theatre, studios, offices, an elevator and kitchen. When available, spaces can be rented out for classes, rehearsals, performances, lectures and parties.
The BOTTLE WORKS and members of the community develop celebrations for each specific heritage which usually feature exhibits, performances, workshops, cooking classes, films and lectures. The activities are designed to promote understanding and appreciation of cultural traditions.
The BOTTLE WORKS shares programming and resources with schools, museums, universities and other art centers.
A quarterly newsletter is published with information about what's happening at the Center and elsewhere.
